About Tanween
Tanween is a letterform-based search platform dedicated to Arabic typography. founded by Michel Salloum and curated by Michel Salloum and Sarah Khorbtli.
It serves as a searchable mood-board for Arabic type designers and calligraphers, built specifically to help graphic design students and aspiring type designers find inspiration and get motivated to create.

On this platform, you will find a spectrum of work, from the masterpieces of established greats to the rough and experimental, that might give a spark of inspiration to create.

What Tanween is NOT,
Tanween is not a "mark of excellence." While our catalogue features some of the finest Arabic type from incredible artists and designers, that isn't the platform's primary purpose. Although both curators share a great passion for Arabic typography, we are in no position to judge the quality of others' work, nor do we wish to. Tanween is simply inspiration fuel for arabic-type lovers.

Why in English?,
The simple answer is inclusivity. There are non-Arabic speaking type designers and students who are interested in a platform like this, and we are certainly planning to launch an Arabic version in the near future.
